Time Management Relief, Part 1

‘Tis the season to be joyfully “busy” —fa, la, la, la…Or is it?

This time of the year has a way of adding additional time pressures on top of your normal busyness – from month end, year end, next year’s business planning, to family visits, shopping, dinner parties and more. And if you are like most people, you probably don’t feel much like singing about the holiday joys of being busy! Rather, you might hope this season gets over quickly and you can once again get back in control of your time. Or, perhaps you find yourself wishing you could be more mentally present in your joyous times.

My question to you – Is it the season or the habits that makes you feel less in control?

If you have good time management skills and processes for organizing and prioritizing, then your habits will sustain you during this time, making it more joyful.

If, on the other hand, you’ve found yourself throughout the year wishing you had a handle on your time - or waiting for the time to become available to get a handle on your time - then you will find it particularly hard to enjoy this season. Nor will you get excited or be anxiously anticipating what you can accomplish towards your goals in the New Year.

How do you solve this?

How do you get excited and feel in control again?

“People waste more time waiting for someone to take charge of their lives than they do in any other pursuit. Time is life. Time is all there is.” –Gloria Steinem

Driver's Seat

Being in control requires taking charge by getting out of the passenger seat and into the “Driver’s” seat of your life.

Simply put – You can choose to resign yourself to the passenger seat of your life or you can move into the driver’s seat and sit with your hands firmly on the wheel. In essence, you can drive or be driven! Which will you choose?

Quick test – See how many you answer Yes to:

- I want to live my life consciously, setting intentions based on my values.

- I want to quit acting out of default reactions or habits.

- I want to feel in control and able to decide where and how to spend my precious energy.

- I want to feel like I am running my schedule, not it running me.

- I want to have enough time to take care of my important tasks.

- I want to feel fulfilled and successful at the end of my day.

You have a choice to continue with the way things are and hope they get better, or to do something about changing them.

If you answered, “Yes” to any of these and would you like relief NOW - Take advantage of these resources!!
