How to confidently achieve your New Year resolutions – with my Time Management approach!
During the time off this last week, I was relaxing enjoying my cup of coffee and watching a morning news show, a rare treat for me. A guest expert came on and discussed the common reasons New Year resolutions aren’t successfully achieved. To my pleasant surprise, she reaffirmed one of the core principles I teach. Studies show the #1 item you’ll need to be successful in reaching your New Year resolutions or your goals is — Confidence!
Why Confidence?
Because you have to have confidence to change, to grow and that means stretching out of your comfort zone and embracing the power in you to create what you are truly capable and deserving of! If you don’t feel confident that you can change and reach your goals, you will struggle more and eventually give up or worse, not even start.
Has this ever happened to your New Year resolutions? Would you like to make 2010 different and finally achieve
what is most important to you in your life?

One of the main things that can diminish confidence and keep most people from successfully achieving their goals: Not having a “Self-Honoring” approach to how you – manage your time!
While there are many factors that influence confidence, not practicing a self-honoring approach of how you use your time will leave you feeling unbalanced, stressed, and deprived of personal power. You will end up reacting and piecing yourself out to everyone else’s wants and needs.
As a result, you will not be in the driver’s seat of your life! And if you are not in the driver’s seat, in essence, not in control of your time, how can you confidently pursue your goals?
How do you solve this??
You must understand what the real influence is on the successful use of your time. You!
Typically, I see that individuals measure their overall success based on how busy they are. In fact, a standard greeting to, “How are you?” is, “I am busy”. There is a mentality that to be successful we must be busy. However, this poses a challenge because focusing on the right things and being busy are two different things. The successful use of your time requires a self-honoring approach. This means YOU approach the use of your time not from how busy you are or can be, but from your self-worth and what is the best use of your time.
Confident individuals with a high level of self-worth take control of their time, make a conscious decision about how they use it and set clear boundaries around how other people use it. This allows them to take control of the outcome, tap into their personal power, and enjoy the pursuit of their goals. Because they measure the successful use of their time based on these factors, they are able to “choose” how they spend their precious time and energy. As a result, they have increased confidence to commit to and pursue their goals!
Is this possible for you with everything on your plate? Can you take control of your time so you can finally achieve your long-awaited goals?
Absolutely! My clients and myself are proof this is possible!!
Here is a tip to get started:
Identify your time-wasters and energy-drainers: You’ll know what these are by the way they keep hanging around on your schedule, to-do lists and sticky notes. These will sap your energy, pull at your attention, and lessen your confidence to take on your New Year resolutions. Make a list of them and take a close and honest look at the value of completing them. Then decide to do them within a short period or take them off your list. This will release the energy attached. You can then use that energy and formerly wasted time to focus on your New Year goals!
